For shipping orders
The delivery date is initially based on the date the shipping label was printed. It is updated when the package is actually shipped. We try to ship on Mondays so the wine does not sit in a warehouse or truck over a weekend. In the event of extreme temperatures your shipment may be delayed to protect it from heat/cold damage. This is the only way we can have confidence that the wine arrives in as good condition as when it leaves our wine cellar.
We love the complexity that Washington-grown Merlot brings and it shows here in our Star. Fresh cherry and raspberry are tempered with notes of Dutch cocoa, cola, and piquant clove. This wine is medium bodied with plush tannins.
In keeping with Baer’s original vision for Ursa, the character of the wine is a mix of savory herbs, tobacco and fresh cherry complemented by spicy wood smoke from French oak barrels. Full bodied but light on its feet.
The 2015 Arctos is a beautiful wine. Elegant on the palate, silky, lush and dense. It also reveals good, firm acidity and round tannins. Aromas of blueberries, blackberries, and gunpowder follow through to a full body. Integrated tannins and a fine silky finish. This is very fine textured indeed.
Structure meets polish in this Merlot, which features a complex core wrapped in refined and complex red currant, spiced mocha and tomato leaf accents. Takes on richness toward well-froomed tannins. Medium ruby. Ripe and dense dark plum and dark cherry flavors with hints of earth and sweet oak. Silky attack and nicely balanced with good cencentration, firm round tannins and light alcohol on the finish. Aromas of blackberries, hints of fresh herbs and hints of chocolate. Medium body, soft tannins and a clean, chocolate finish.
The 2015 Baer Ursa’s tannins are plush andvelvety and the flavors are ripe and black-fruited as opposed to red. There is recognizable Baer Ursa character woven in there, though, a savory quality and refreshing lift to the finish that will pair wonderfully with food.
This wine is a blend of several different clones of Cabernet grown on the same hillside at Stillwater Creek vineyard; all planted in 2001.
Clone 191 is a French clone from Bordeaux that is known to produce wines that are "colorful and well structured" and we really like the concentrated black plum character it adds to the Arctos blend.
Clone 4 is the heart of the Arctos blend. It has classic Cabernet aromas of black cherry, black berry fruit, black olive, and herbs. It is savory with plush tannins.
Clone 8 is very widely planted in Washington and tends to produce wines that are consistently ripe and fruity with medium tannins.
These clonal differences bring complexity and nuance to the blend and the Petit Verdot adds blueberry and violet and beautiful purple-black color.
This Cab Franc is simpler and less serious than the Cab Franc that goes into the Ursa blend or into Maia, it was raised in only 17% new French oak barrels, the rest of the barrels were reused from the 2014 or 2012 vintages. The flavor is plum and mulberry with cigar box and roasted herbs. It's juicy and fresh and will be delicious drinking in the near term.
The purity of fruit here is what's fun about this vintage of Star - we are really showcasing how delicious Columbia Valley Merlot can be, the star of its own show. The nose is full of bright red currant and pie cherries, baking spice and a hint of bay leaf with a freshness and vibrancy that carries into the mouth. The polished and elegant structure is open and enjoyable.
The dark horse in our lineup offers the depth of rich black plum and cherry, lifted by pretty violet. It is punctuated with herbaceous licorice, bay leaf, and savory cigar box. Seamless and silky on the palate, with fine tannins, make this a Cabernet that you can enjoy today.
We love the complexity that Washington-grown Merlot brings and it shows here in our Star. Fresh cherry and raspberry are tempered with notes of Dutch cocoa, cola, and piquant clove. This wine is medium bodied with plush tannins.
The nose is expressive with forest notes - wild forest berries and a cedary pine character. There are also aromas of vanilla and root beer and a savory component that reminds me of roasted red pepper. In the mouth the wine feels round and full, it's integrated and harmonious with a lifted, mouthwatering finish.
This dense, ripe, and savory blackberry Cabernet/Petit Verdot showcases soy sauce, teriyaki, Chinese plum sauce, and black olives; backed up with serious structure and a long, rich finish. Steak approved.(490 cases)
Lighter bodied and a little bit less serious than the flagship Ursa, the Cab Franc smells of blackberry and currant, black licorice, and cedar. The feel in the mouth is fresh and coolly refreshing. 20% new French oak (all Sylvain). (370 cases)
Bigger and bolder than either the Ursa or the Cab Franc, the Callisto is inky black in color. The Syrah here lends a super silky texture, meaty richness, and spicy black pepper character to the blend. The Cab provides the structural backbone, and it brings the classic black cherry and black olive aromatics. The Petit Verdot is floral and blueberry with a base note of black coffee. 45% new French oak (Atelier, Taransaud and O). (261 cases)
This 100% Merlot has all the mouthwatering flavors that Baer and Stillwater Creek Vineyards are known for. Dominant red cherry and currant gives way to hints of black tea and thyme. Enjoy with lasagna or eggplant ravioli. (366 cases)
2018 Ursa is equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc (38%) with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. Raised in 50% new French oak (Demptos, Sylvain, and Taransaud). Layers of ripe cherry and plum, culinary herbs like dried sage and bay leaf, vanilla and roast coffee come together in delicious harmony. It’s dense and complex but polished and drinkable.
