The 2019 Cabernet Franc combines 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, as this was stored in 39% new French oak before bottling. The beautiful black and red florals greet you already, showing notes of black raspberry and bay leaf. The palate is very smooth and soft with a polished texture. While obviously not a big wine, this is seamless and elegant Cabernet Franc by winemaker Erica Orr, with its salty undertones that wonderfully showcases the Stillwater Creek Vineyard in a cooler vintage. Blended with 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, the aromas draw you in, with notes of dark chocolate, black cherry, flower, herb, cinnamon stick, and spice, mixing fruit and barrel. The black fruit flavors are rich and focused, showing intensity and layering, along with a lightly creamy feel from barrel aging. Espresso notes linger on the finish. It has a big-time yum factor. Best from 2025 to 2031. 14.8% alcohol. Micro-agglomerated cork. 125 cases produced. |
